BioHurricane Conrad was a level 5 Hurricane that hit Texas on March 21, 1993, at 3:14 AM. It was considered a major threat to Galveston Bay, yet only impacted one area in all of Texas - the bedroom of a family's youngest child. The mother, who was not at the house to see the hurricane hit because she was giving birth, found out that the bedroom planned for her youngest child had been transformed into a literal disaster area. Fourteen hours later her son was born, and she named it Conrad in light of the hurricane and the impact on the bedroom. "I'm sure my new son will have the same effect on his room as his namesake did," the mother joked. Several meteorologists called it "the oddest weather-related phenomenon ever recorded." The family just calls it their child.
